ACRYLIC PAINTING STEP BY STEP
Painting has always been an
intimate subject for all of us. Painting is an art that we learn for the first
time in our lives. As a child we love to play with colors. As we get older, our
hobbies and choices change, we learn new art. After a while we go back to
painting but then we can't paint as easily as we used to do as children. There
are so many mediums ahead of us that the question arises as to what to start
painting. This is a blog for such people. In this I am going to teach you step
by step how to draw a simple and easy picture using acrylic paint.
We will start with a
picture of nature. Nature painting has been a favorite subject of painting
since childhood. The sky, the river, the mountains and the trees are our
favorite topics, so let's start painting using all of them.

Material Required For Acrylic Painting
You do not need much
material for this, only a few materials are required for this, as follows.
1) Color - acrylic color of any good brand, you can use tube or bottle
color. Minimum 10 shades required.

2) Paper - a good brand of acrylic painting paper. Minimum should be 200
gsm thick.

3) Brush - we will start with a small scale painting so there is no need
for a large size brush. Normally 1, 3, 5, 9, 11 etc. size brush are enough.

Acrylic painting step by step
Step 1 - Sketching
It is
necessary to draw basic sketch of the subject. You first draw the highlights on
the paper with a pencil. As such, there is no need to draw a lot in detail, but
if you are a beginner, draw all necessary details; it will help you in
coloring.

I am going to draw a compound wall of a farm house, the surrounding bushes and greenery. First I draw the important details by pencils on a4 size paper. A picture which I am going to create is a memory drawing. We are going to draw it without any reference so you can draw a lot with your imagination. We are going to create simple and easy painting so minimal things are included.
Step 2 - Basic wash
In this step, I am going to give a light color wash to all elements, as per their original colors like blue sky, green grass, yellowish brown road and reddish brown wall. For that first take the color in palette and mix the right amount of water in it to make a thin color. Then spread it with help of brush evenly. Let’s wait for dry completely.

Step 3 - Detailing
This is the most important and last step in painting. We will start detailing after the washed picture is completely dry.

Wall detailing
We will first paint the pattern of stone. Let’s paint the stone shape, their pattern and joints. You can paint different sized stones according to your imagination. You can do this detailing by creating a dark and light shade in of brown. Use a dark shade where the part is dark and a lighter color where the light is. Since there is no reference in memory drawing, you have liberty to create anything as per your imagination.
Detailing of the tree
The two main types of plants we have shown here, banana and mango. Now let's start their detailing, banana leaves are big, some green and some are yellow, so let's paint them. We will use a dark shade of green as there is darkness due to bunch of leaves near the trunk. Also the top leaves look brighter due to sunlight so we use line green for them. We will paint the aged leaves and the trunk in dark green. The mango trees are shown small so their trunks are also small and the tree has sparse leaves. We will show it in dark green. You can paint a lot of details using small brushes. The more detail we, the more the picture looks perfect.
Detailing of road and surroundings
The road shown in picture is a dirt road so paint it by yellowish brown color. While detailing you can paint stone, clay, pits by darker shade. In the beginning you may have difficulty in painting all these details but as the practice grows you will become proficient in it. Using a dry brush, we will cover the roadside grass. Let's paint the surrounding using different shades of green. Some of the roadside stones and surrounding soil can be shown using shades of yellow, black, and brown.
Gate detailing
Just like a farm house simple wooden gate let’s draw it and paint it in blue.

Final touchup
Now
your picture is almost complete, check to see if there are any unpainted spaces
left in the picture. Nearby objects look dark and clear, so detailing them is
essential. The long elements are pale and obscure. The focus point of the
picture is the trees, the wall and the road so we have left the original wash
of the sky as it is.

Our
picture is now complete. You can keep it dry for a while. You can FRAME this
picture nicely. We can all paint well; we just need to paint it thoroughly and
neatly. With practice and perseverance we can become a good painter in a short
period of time.
